About University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland
Founded in 1998, the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland is a big network of schools located in French-speaking Switzerland. With over 21,000 students – and 27 per cent of which are international - it’s the largest university of applied sciences and arts in the country.
It currently offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees across six faculties including: art and design, business, management and services, engineering and architecture, music and the performing arts, health sciences and social work.
Teaching here is grounded in practical experience and is aimed at preparing students for entering the workforce.
Even at bachelor’s levels, students are given skills needed to secure employment in the future, as well as encouraged to undertake internships. Classes are taught in small sizes to encourage useful exchanges between staff and students.
Courses are taught in a mixture of French, German and English and students can choose to study part time (to fit around work commitments), full time or even try out a sandwich course. Graduates can move straight into a master degree or take part in one of the various continuing education programmes.
