About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an established academic to contribute to teaching and research in the Master of Speech Pathology Course at the University of Melbourne. This position involves the preparation and delivery of lectures, tutorials and seminars, and development of assessments. As a member of the Melbourne School of Health Sciences, you'll be working in a supportive and forward-thinking team, dedicated to providing high-quality education. Being part of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences there are extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. .

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordination of subjects within the Master of Speech Pathology teaching program
  • Involvement in ongoing course development and in the delivery of high-quality teaching to graduate students studying the Master of Speech Pathology
  • Supervision and management of research projects for speech pathology students

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking someone who is eligible for membership of Speech Pathology Australia or a similar professional organisation. You should have the ability to undertake independent teaching and research, demonstrated by a growing profile of research outputs, including research publications, conference and seminar papers, and contributions to grant applications. Previous teaching experience is essential, with the flexibility to participate in and teach a broad range of subjects while maintaining clinical currency. Experience teaching across a broad field of adult and/or paediatric conditions is highly desirable. Additionally, you should have a demonstrated ability to develop assessment materials linked to learning goals, create teaching materials, deliver lectures, facilitate problem-based tutorials and practical sessions, and support online activities.

You will also have:

  • A PhD relevant to speech pathology or equivalent accreditation and standing
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders in order to maintain strong working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team to achieve project goals and meet agreed deadlines

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. The Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology is a research and teaching department within the Melbourne School of Health Sciences, in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
