Key Responsibilities

We are looking to appoint a Campus Assistant who will provide support to the Facilities Manager in the day-to-day upkeep of the campus, ensuring the campus is safe, presentable and equipped for the delivery of teaching and learning at all times.

The Campus Assistant will be expected to have a working knowledge across a range of services such as Health and Safety, contractor management, facilities administration, and other services.

  • Maintain high standards for building upkeep to support teaching and learning activities.
  • Manage and update preventive maintenance schedules across various systems, ensuring timely completion and documentation.
  • Coordinate health and safety training sessions, including first aid and fire warden training.
  • Keep all campus health and safety documents and signage current and accessible.
  • Plan campus improvements and repairs to minimise disruption to operations.
  • Arrange furniture and room setups according to schedules, including manual handling tasks.
  • Oversee general hard and soft service contracts, including cleaning and hygiene.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in health and safety management, including routine inspections and maintenance.
  • Handle general administration tasks such as mail and stationery orders.
  • Collaborate with events teams to ensure events align with institute policies.
  • Perform duties to minimise disruptions to teaching and campus operations.

Other Duties

  • Provide high-quality customer service to a diverse range of staff, students and visitors and develop good working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Undertake training for and act as a fire warden and first aider on campus.
  • Undertaking other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager and in line with the level of the role.
  • Foster a positive work environment with a good team spirit.
  • Occasional flexibility with hours, by undertaking an earlier or later shift.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • FM Qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant HSE qualification (minimum IOSH).
  • Experience in facilities management with HSE compliance knowledge.
  • Flexibility for event support and coverage.
  • Punctual, responsible, self-motivated, and adaptable.
  • Knowledge of hard and soft services.
  • Familiarity with Facilities activities and systems.
  • Organisational skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Adaptability to new processes.
  • Methodical approach to documentation.
  • Proactive with a sense of urgency.

Experience in a facilities role within the education sector
