- Opportunity to support an interdisciplinary team working on an exciting new research project to inform care for people with variations of sex characteristics

About the opportunity

Sydney School of Public Health hosts the Sydney Health Ethics Network. Sydney Health Ethics conducts research and teaching in bioethics and health-related social science using multidisciplinary methods. Our mission is to achieve a positive social impact by engaging in academic and public conversations about the ethics of health and wellbeing.
Using your research project management, coordination and administration skills, you will help realise an exciting new competitively funded research project, engaging with patients, researchers and health professionals across Australia and internationally. The project aims to create a safer and better future for people with innate variations in sex characteristics (IVSC), also referred to as intersex or differences of sex development. The project will drive improvements to healthcare and its management, and fill gaps in knowledge about the health and wellbeing of adults with IVSC. As a key member of the team you will be assisting in the development of research project under the guidance of the Chief Investigator - Dr Morgan Carpenter
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- provide overall project administration, management and coordination to support implementation of this new project from the outset.
- manage project organisation such as refining and implementing the project organisation structure, consortium work plans and project processes and resources required to support the Chief Investigator and the team
- manage project activity to ensure ongoing achievement of project milestones and deliverables
- develop and embed project governance and reporting processes to ensure progress is monitored, and reported in line with funder requirements, and that project risks are mitigated
- provide administrative support under general direction including preparing documents, maintaining records, assisting with preparing reports, creating and updating web materials, responding to internal and external queries, sourcing solutions, logistic and compliance
- manage the development and allocation of the project budget across work streams and activities, and monitor on-going expenditure against plan
- contribute to management of stakeholders and communications, ensuring effective collaboration and teamwork with other project teams and stakeholders, both across the University and externally.
About you
- strong project management competency with demonstrated contribution to overall progress and success of projects that you have worked on in your career
- strong administrative and organisational skills and experience with capability to coordinate and undertake a range of operational activities on an ongoing basis
- a high degree of initiative and judgement to coordinate multiple activities and teams concurrently on projects, and resolve complex issues associated with project delivery
- experience managing a diverse group of key internal/external stakeholders on large or complex projects - preferably within a higher education/tertiary sector or at a complex, multi-faceted organisation
- planning, analysis and communication skills together with the ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands
- financial management experience and literacy, experience managing budgets and controlling income and expenditure for a project
- confident with Microsoft 365 Suite and related platforms.
